Ohmi dyeing factory: For over 50 years, this kimono maker has specialized in pattern dyeing, a method of dyeing that uses many stencils (40 to 200 stencils) to draw one color after another. Though fewer people are wearing kimono nowadays and machine dyeing methods have increased in kimono manufacturing, this kimono maker strives for quality and makes everything by hand.
Left: Many stencil patterns are used.
Center: One brush is used for one color.
Right: A large space is needed to accommodate the amount of kimono fabric.
